WHAT WE TREAT

Joint Pain & Dysfunction

Spinal & Extremity Joint Dysfunction
This disorder is characterized by the presence of pain and/or stiffness, joint asymmetry, restricted range of motion, and a change in the tone, temperature, or texture of the surrounding soft tissues. Treatment of joint dysfunction in the mainstay of the chiropractic profession as these conditions respond quickly to adjustments. Whether it is neck, back, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, or ankle pain there is an adjustment that can provide rapid relief.

Soft Tissue Injuries

Strain & Sprain
This condition is characterized by the overstretching or tearing of a muscle or ligament. Strains and sprains are graded as grade 1, grade 2, or grade 3 and can be due to a motor vehicle accident, posture, or sports related injury. These injuries are often accompanied by local inflammation and subsequent pain and stiffness.

Shoulder Impingement
This condition is due to a decrease in the subacromial space and results in pain with overhead movements involving the arms. This pain can greatly impact an individual’s ability to work and is especially common among (but not limited to) bartenders, barbers, and manual laborers.

Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)
This condition results in a decrease in an individual’s ability to move their arm and can be quite painful. It is often progressive and can severely impact activities of daily living.

Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow
This condition creates pain at the sides of the elbow and is caused by overuse of the forearm muscles. This pain is common among office workers and athletes.

Plantar Fasciitis/Fasciosis

Nerve-related Issues

Radiculopathy/Radiculitis
This condition is caused by either the compression or irritation of nerve roots located within the spine. Due to this patients often experience pain, numbness, and tingling that radiates into either the arms or legs.

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
This condition is due to compression of nerves as they pass through the neck and shoulder regions. Patients often experience numbness, tingling, and weakness in their arms.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
This condition results in the compression of nerves as they pass through the wrist. This often results in the presence of pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand.

Piriformis Syndrome
This condition is one cause of what is commonly referred to as “sciatica” and characterized by radiating pain, numbness, and tingling in the thigh and calf.

Structural Disorders

Joint Arthritis
More appropriately termed degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis, patients with this condition often experience pain, stiffness, and limitations with motion. Although arthritic changes cannot be reversed, chiropractic can help restore joint function.

Herniated/Bulging Discs
This condition results from damage to the basket like weaving of the outer fibers of the disc. This damage allows the inner “jelly” of the disc to bulge or protrude.

Lumbar Spondylolisthesis
This condition is characterized by a slippage of one vertebrae over the other and can result in local pain/stiffness as well neurological symptoms of nerve impingements. Depending on the severity of the spondylolisthesis this condition can respond well to chiropractic care or may require a referral to an orthopedic surgeon.
